2017 marks the 5th year that Continental Star and The Holford Drive Sports Hub have worked alongside Hob CSPAN to help distribute food to some of those less fortunate within our local community.

The Christmas period is meant to be a time of goodwill, one when we give and receive presents, but far too often people can get caught up in overspending, with the increasing commercialisation of the season, and yet forget to consider the needs of their neighbour.  None more so than the younger generation who have grown up in an era of instant gratification.  So to see 20 plus young people spend Christmas Eve night unloading several van loads of food in preparation for it to be distributed was a refreshing site.  Lincoln Moses went on to say:

“Feeling overwhelmed by the Continental Star volunteers who spent the last 4 festive days organising the food distribution at The Holdford Drive Community Sports Hub for the less fortunate…The inner city community may be going through some difficulty and hardships, but be encouraged that even though your times are hard…let this truth sink [in] …some of us are working behind the scenes to make a genuine contribution to the less fortunate.”

Last year approximately 2,500 people benefitted from the food distribution and this year all involved are hoping to surpass that figure.
