The last time the two sides met they were both in the Midland Combination. Loughborough won a hard fought contest, scoring the winner in the 89th minute after a mistake by Star’s goalkeeper.  However, today the gulf was all to apparent at times, as Loughborough came from behind to win the match; playing most of the second half with ten men, but this did not prevent them from out passing Star.  The sleek  passing game that Star began the season with seems to have deserted them for the moment, as they come to terms with life in the Midland Alliance.
