Bridgnorth Town FC 2v1 Continental Star FC

For the fifth week running Star found themselves on the road travelling to Crown Meadow to play Bridgnorth Town in this Midland Football Alliance clash.  The game started as a tight, tactical battle, but in 23rd minute of the game, the hosts took the lead after an error in communication between Star fullback Josh O’Garro and new keeper Gavin Ellis; O’Garro over hit a back pass to Ellis who had come off his line to claim the ball, resulting in the ball running past the stranded Ellis and into the empty net.

The visitors tried to play their trademark slick, fast paced, attacking football, but the hosts wouldn’t allow them time on the ball to settle.  However, Star looked to have earned a point when in 87th minute the ref pointed to the spot following handball by Scott Turner.  Up stepped O’Garro, who cooly dispatched the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the net, sending Cook in the Town goal the wrong way.  A fair result for the effort Star put into the second half.  But, two minutes later the hosts found themselves in front again.  Anwar Olungbon crossed a ball into the box from the right hand side and the ball somehow managed to loop over Ellis and land in the top left hand corner of Star’s net.  A real fluke of a goal; so harsh on Star who deserved to have come away with at least a point.

Star now have a two weeks break until they next play, when they host Tividale at Dales Lane on Saturday 20th October, in the Midland Football Alliance k.o. 3 pm.

Continental have released keeper Andy Pring and defender David Stewart.  We thank them for their service and wish them good luck in the future.
