Continental Star FC has been serving the inner city areas of Birmingham for over 40 years whilst many others have fallen by the wayside. With 11 teams from Mini Movers (3 – 5 year olds) to over 35s we’ve consistently helped to discover and develop new football talent with many of our players having gone on to join clubs on professional terms.
In the past we have had players sign contracts with West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa, Birmingham City and Notts County to name a few. Our most famous former player is ex QPR, Leicester and Wolves player Bob Hazell. Bob maintains his links to the club as a patron as well as watching his nephews turn out for the junior sides.
The 2011/2012 season saw us reach our highest league position in our history by winning the Midland Combination Premier Division title – proof that persistence pays off.
Recent successes include:
- Kristian Ramsey-Dickson signed for Burton Albion
- Daril Bimpe signed for Luton Town FC
- Off the field, General Manager, Lincoln Moses, received a MBE for his services to ‘Grassroots football’
- FA Charter Standard Community Club.
- In recent seasons several coaches have gone on to work for professional academies such as WBA
40 years on from their humble beginnings, Continental Star remains at the forefront of local grassroots football; developing both the young people that they engage on a regular basis, and the coaches/volunteers through a bespoke training programme.
“At Continental Star …we don’t just focus on developing football skills though. We don’t have coaches per se; we have mentors because we feel it’s important to develop relationships with the young people…” (Lincoln Moses)
As well as the football teams we also run a homework club (attracting over 100 youngsters), and we have provided bespoke work in a number of local schools.
